i've changed my plans, yet again. i will not be car camping at see canyon, due to an opening at our timeshare we are staying the fri/sat nights at Kohl's Ranch on Tonto Creek (about 6 miles away).
Im thinking a drive up to camp to see you guys might happen saturday late afternoon, just to drop in.
Scott: i'll bring the whoopies then. at least you'll get to use 'em saturday.
I'll prolly do a dayhike on Horton Creek trail as its just a skip away from the Timeshare. And, there are sizeable trout in Tonto creek.
Just to rub it in, we have a large deluxe kitchenette complete with a gas grille and hot tub on the patio. about 15 feet from the water's edge, too. yay!
Sheesh...plans changing all the time.
Well Scott/Rook and I are planning on being at the GPS Co-ordinates Friday afternoon/evening. We will see you all there sat when you all stroll in. We will be hauling an ice chest to the location so we can eat some yummay Steaks. Let me know if I need to bring a couple extra.
On a side note:
Te-Wa, I will have my Winter UQ I hope you will have time to help me adjust and figure out Sat. Also seeing how it fits on my Clark NA since I was having trouble (new UQ user).
Everyone else, My friend bailed out for personal stuff, so I WILL have an extra set up (Clark NA, SPE with Neo Air reg. and GG pad, and Rooks Hex tarp with Grizz beaks). This set up easily got my Step daughter down to 32 degrees.
So if anyone has a friend that wants to come and "Hang" with us but doesn't have a set up, I am willing to let them use my Clark set up. They must be a responsible, Respectful, trustworthy individual. I want my gear back in perfect condition. User needs to supply their own Sleeping bag.
I plan on setting it up friday or sat. but it can be moved to where ever the person wants to have it.
My goal it to set it up for Te-Wa to fiddle with with the winter UQ and see if we could get it to fit right on it. Since we are closer to the Car, I figured no big deal to bring it.
Please let me know asap, so I can advise others that is has been adopted for the night(s)
It's not the pace....it's the experience.
SKITTLES
Cool, I will have my own hammock but have always wanted to see a clark na... sounds like I might get a chance. My guest also had other commitments so it will just be myself. We should still have a good size group there. Ummm, steak!
Thanks for the info Roadtorque. The weather is looking like overnight lows of around 30 degrees now. Today there are wind gusts of up to 50mph up there! The wind looks to be settling down mostly by the weekend, with around a 20% chance of rain. It looks like us backpackers are going to have to re-figure out shuttle logistics, with Te-wa dropping out. What is the count now for people who are still planning to backpack through both sections?

Skittles said we may be able to help out a bit with shuttles. We'll be camped out at Christopher Creek just off of FR284 from Friday afternoon until Sunday.
Does the learning and DROOLING never end?

I am doing the whole hike, the only deal is my car is totaled and I am driving a rental. I am hoping to hitch a ride with Roadtorque.
Holy crap!!! What happened to your truck Angelo?

I plan on doing the whole hike. I'm trying to arrange my car situation now so I can drive, if not I will look into renting a car. Either way, as long as we have two cars up there we can work out a shuttle, even if it takes multiple trips it's probably no more than a 15 min. car drive. I'm also planning on meeting at the casino on friday.
