Thanks Te-wa, this (N 34.3400 W 111.01363) is a few hundred feet (if that much) from the place I was looking at on google earth. It looks like there are at least 5 ways to get there (hiking).
    1. From the 260 trail head =about 7 miles
    2. From the top of the rim via trail 291 = about 2.5 miles
    3. From the top of the rim via trail 184 = about 2.5 miles
    4. From FS 284 via Old Highway 260 = a few hundred feet
    5. Various lengths from any trail head west of Christopher creek

We can arrange two carpools. One for those who want to travel up on Friday and one for those who want to travel up Saturday. Meeting of the beeline highway around the fountain hills area might be most convenient for people headed up from Phoenix. It's probably to early for people to know their schedules. Stay tuned for Carpool details.

    Sounds nice...

We just finished Reavis Ranch this past weekend. I am not Fond of the Superstitions trails. I do not like the ankle breakers (Rocky Trail). I forgot about that part when I picked that trail. Yuck. Took me forever to get there. I guess I'm in the slow hike category...for now. So options for distance and such are nice.

Rook and I would most likely be there Friday. 2 nights in the BB!

I look forward to Te-wa helping me with my winter UQ. Still having a bit of trouble. I know it is not rocket science.... grrrrr.

Going to my SPE with my Neo Air this weekends trip. (I'd rather have my sweet UQ).

I heard there will be some fishing opportunities? or did I read that wrong. Rook is already begging for a Tenkara Rod. I hope I spelled that right.
It's not the pace....it's the experience.

I have not been to this particular area, so I'm looking forward to it. With that said, I have read that there are some fishing opportunities. I'm looking forward to testing out some new gear as well. I got a new pack that's 5lbs lighter than my old one... it should make for a nicer hike in. For now I'm also planning on Fri-Sun

I have been following this thread wishing there was a way I could join you guys. Now that you will be near Payson, I'm really intrigued. Payson is on my radar for places to live, along with a few others in N AZ. The irony is that I will be flying in to PHX on 4/29 - 5/3, for business. There's no possibility of me joining the group because I will be sitting on a rescue boat at Firebird Raceway, all day Fri - Sun. So close but ............

It is almost field season and I will be spending considerable time in the Hammock over the summer in places like East and West Clear Creek and Fossil Creek (I do love my job in the summer)

If I go on this hangout I will likely be focused primarily on fishing and socializing rather than hiking....because fishing is what I like the most about life in general.

I will know more next week about any scheduling conflicts and will try to carpool with any suspects that are traveling from Flagstaff.

Thanks and I hope that I can make this one.
If I lose 12 more ounces in this pack and gear I can bring one more beer.

I would but I'm the Rescue Coordinator. I loved the photos of your location on HAZ. Looks like a good place to practice with my new flyrod that I'm going to buy. I will be back Nov 4-8 for the World Finals. I would like to arrive early and take a few extra days to check out some real estate. Maybe a Halloween hang?
