Aspen Springs in the Mogollon Rim area is beautiful. It can be hit after a very easy 2 mile trail from Pinchot Cabin. I don't know what road conditions are like, but there are plenty of trees, 2 fire pits and plenty of wood around for a fire. There is also a nice spring within 100 feet.
Does the learning and DROOLING never end?

oh yeah, most creeks there perrenial and there is still snowmelt, where these creeks that are seasonal will still run for months. We will def. cross several unnamed flowing "streams"
The See Canyon area is nice to explore too, and leads to the top of the Mogollon, and where we camp is within 1/4 mile of a road if some want to end the adventure there. See canyon is very nice with ponderosas, juniper and awesome firns. Wildflowers should be putting on a nice display as well.

Aspen Spring is a really nice place if the snow conditions are OK.

Hand Stirred!? Are you trying to tease me with a carrot dangling in my face! Sheesh.. I need to lose this extra puff.... I can see you will be a great influence...

That trip sounds like a good one.

No ROOK... NO FLYROD... j/k We'll see. I want a Te-Wa TQ first.
It's not the pace....it's the experience.

Te-wa, I think this is sounding like a great place to accommodate everyone's needs/wants. Each can decide how far they want to hike, there are plenty of trees for everyone to hang from, good scenic views , and plenty of water for drinking but not enough to prevent a stream crossing. For those that want to spend Fri-Sun they will have some areas they can explore during the day.

    Arizona Hang

    Hi Roadtorque:

It sounds like this trip is shaping up well. There are many good suggestions. Would you please re-state the specific location that you are settling on; just so we are all on the same page?

    Many thanks.

Longbow, I think the best idea is to take Te-wa's idea of Christopher Creek. Some of the other places I was wanting to camp at might be impassible due to unusually high river conditions. At Christopher creek there will be plenty of trees to hang from and each person can decide on the length of hike they want to do, to some degree. I will work with Te-wa, and others, to get some Lat/Lon coordinates of where we will camp, this way everyone will end up at the same for the night .

Once we have a camp site selected we can start working on carpools to and from Christopher Creek. I like the idea to end our hike on Sunday at the Beeline Cafe.

Aw shucks! I'm coming out next Thurs 8th-12th, Skull Mesa area....figures..oh well, one of these days I'll hit a hang somewhere!...Snow is gone up here (Maine), south side of Mt. Katahdin is losing snow fast, but the back side (north) is still heavy in the white stuff. Sedona sounds nice...
