Something besides sticks in AMOK Draumr

Got the new AMOK Draumr today and am wondering if anyone came up with something to use in the foot and head ends besides sticks? I am thinking of using 1/2" Plex water line, it seems to be flexible and light weight. Thanks

I use a 3/8" plex pipe cut to size on my Amok XL. The 1/2" will probably work but it may be a little tight.

I only use it on the head end. I find the foot end is not needed and keeps falling out.

Another vote for 3/8" PEX. I credit AZsteelman with matching the material to the application. You can get a 5' piece from the hardware store for a couple two three bucks and it will be more than enough, even if you screw up and cut too short a time or two.

I have yet to try the PEX route (it's in the garage but hasn't bothered me enough to cut yet). I figure: if a green switch was good enough to tan my hide with as a kid, it's good enough to keep the bug net off my face.
Oooh, shiney! What does THIS button do?

I use a pair of thin carbon fiber rods I had laying around from one of my rc planes. It's light and has the perfect flex.

I set it up and tried the 1/2" pex water line, it seems to work but just to be on the safe side I think I will get the 3/8 and go with that. Also is the ridge line suppose to be super tight? I know on my chameleon I should be able to bend it a little bit when I'm laying in it. This one seems to be fiddle string tight. Thanks.

I'm new to my Draumr XL, only had it a few days. But my ridge line is not super tight. Sounds like your tree straps aren't at that 30° sweet spot.

I'll have to play around with it tomorrow. I think I might have to raise them a little. Thanks.

My experience is only with my 3.0, but too flat on the straps sure will put a "twang" in the old style ridgeline.

I played around with it today and even with a 30 degree angle it still seems tight but the distance between the trees is 17'. I moved it two trees around 11' and the ridge line did slack off some with a 30 degree angle. Maybe need to get the straps higher when it gets over 15 feet between trees.
