I thought I would miss the shelf too, and while it is nice to have, I find that I don't need it as much when backpacking. I just don't have as much stuff to put in the shelf. I like the new fabric so much I think I will be using and Eldorado with the Dream-Tex even when car camping until I can afford an XLC with the Dream-Tex.

I thought the Eldorado was just a XLC body with a different bug not that doesn't have the shelf? Couldn't you just switch your XLC net onto your Dream-Tex Eldorado body and call it an XLC?
