I avoid washing my underquilts. So far, I have only washed one, because it smelled really bad right off the bat. Sometimes new down stinks. Other than that, I have seen no reason to wash any of my underquilts. They are not in direct contact with my skin, and they don't really get dirty otherwise. Also, washing always seems to take some of the loft away. Top quilts, sleeping bags and down clothing are a different story. They inevitably get grimy and smelly at some stage, and loose loft that can partially be restored by washing them.
I go the easy route..
When Apple sends me that notice to update to the next IOS, I don't second guess them... they know more than I do, so I do the update.
None of my quilts have additional down added. All of my quilts seem to be true to, if not able to exceed their manufacturer temp range. I keep them clean, shake them out and I'm glad to report I have no issues or cold spots.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....
