Indoor underquilt for indoors brazilian hammock

    Hi all,

I’m new to hanging. I started also for economic reason. No way I could buy a full bed/mattress. At least not one i’d be happy with. I leave in frigid Montreal and keep my space at 10 C°/50 F°. That sais, I’m not willing to sacrifice my temperature comfort to save a buck.

I hve a brazilian hammock, sleepin area is 2.67m x 173m /8.75” x 5.7”. Anybody could help me in choosing an underquilt that would work? Maybe tell me what I don’t want to do.

I would imagine down is better than synthetic, but i’m not even sure.

    Thanks for your help!

    10c? That sounds terrible.
Synthetic for indoor use should work just fine, and it will be cheaper.
Down will compress better for trips but since you are stationary, synthetic should work fine.

I’m a full time sleeper as well. I have a la siesta flora in the zebra. I use a Gemini DIY Costco underquilt. So does my wife. Love it. Perfect for indoors.

Any blanket or comforter can be used. It’s indoors, at home, so weight isn’t a concern.

The big, rectangular, synthetic Kick *** Quilts from Arrowhead are great for this application. They can be rigged to hang assymetrically to conform to more extreme diagonal sleeping.

My indoor sleep set up is the same as yours. I got the widest UQ commercially available, a Snugpak, 83 X 58. It fits the wider Brazilian hammocks very well. Virtually impossible for it to slip off no matter how diagonal you get.

Thank you all. That was extremely helpful. I could make a decision and I’m sure it will be just right.

Or just use a wool afghan on the inside of it. compression is a non-issue with wool

I'm a full-time sleeper and have used a Brazilian and a Mexican hammock occasionally. I tried different underquilts and even had a huge one custom made for the Brazilian hammock. None worked well enough for a cold sleeper like myself. Ever since I got my first Wooki, I have been using it with all kinds of gathered end hammocks, including the Brazilian and the Mexican. I haven't used a GE hammock, yet, which didn't work well with the Wooki. I just extend the suspension and adjust it so that it is not overstressed but still very snug.
