All too often I see folks posting about wanting to go to a hang but they have to get wife's permission.
Going to save you some time. My wife, The Terminator, says she is giving you permission to go to any hang you want.
Have fun.

Awesome! My wife is pretty much the same! Lucky men we are...

Ditto! Anytime my wife has a committment or has to go out of town, means I get an automatic hall pass to the woods.

It’s easier to ask forgiveness than permission

Yeah my wife let me go every month but now that we have two little ones it becomes a lot of extra work on her so permission isn’t so free flowing anymore. But soon I’ll be dragging the whole family out for some hanging.
Get lost in the woods and find yourself again. A vacation,to me, is working with your hands and surviving because of the fruits of your labor. In the business world I teach;in the natural world I learn.
Yeah, I really don't understand that concept. Decide if it works and inform the wife.

My wife used to try to mess with me on going hiking, camping and canoeing. When she finally realized she wasn't going to win that battle, she started calling the police to go find me in the wilderness (which the police found hilarious, by the way). Eventually, she gave up on that strategy. She especially got jealous when I would take the kids - she wanted to know why she couldn't go. Well, we usually went places where cell phones didn't work (she loves calling the police so that was a hard thing to digest), she is afraid of most forms of wildlife, and she refuses to sleep in a hammock (I don't own a tent). So she never went on a camping/canoeing or hiking trip with me and the kids.
The kids are all gone now, so it's all about beagle Joey, and whether he can can go camping with me. It's always too hot, or too cold, or too rainy for beagle Joey. It's a freaking beagle, not an invalid! My wife has never initially approved of a hiking/camping trip for Joey - it usually takes a couple of weeks of arguing to convince her. Despite her attempts to thwart our camping trips, beagle Joey has hiked in rain, thunderstorms, even a bit of snow, and overnight lows as high as 70* F, or as low as 13* F. Beagle Joey enjoys the trips, so I'll keep taking him. I just have to factor in that it will take two weeks of arguing to convince her beagle Joey can go.

Hum.... My wife eagerly encourages me to go. I wonder ....
My wife told me I needed to retire ( again ) so I go hanging/camping/backpacking more.

I usually send her a text stating my intentions to go. If she doesn't respond, I go. If she responds with an objection, I overcome the objection and.. I go.
Only once did she object... when I wanted to go to MAHHA and the LLG hangs on back-to-back weekends. I acquiesced and skipped the second hang.
I've found the key is balance. As long as the balance is skewed her way, I go.
The Honey-Do list must be up-to-date, or maybe even ahead of schedule.
For instance... The driveway asphalt needs to be sealed and the brickwork power-washed. If I come home with an appointment made for the blacktop dude to come, and I stop at Home Depot to buy a cleaning solution for the power washer.. I'm good. I didn't actually do anything, but I did create the illusion of progress. so.. tomorrow I go.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....
