I talked with Dutchware and they confirmed an idea I had which is to put hardware like spiders in the straps which adjust. They recommended beetles though. I’m up for it and will let folks know how it goes!

That's why I removed the shock cords and now hang the stock tarp separately, BUT if it looks like raining, I hang the tarp so low that the hammock ropes touch and rise the tarp ends a little when there's nobody inside. That way the tarp is close enough when I'm inside. I do use shock cords on the sides, though to help keeping the tarp tight.
Though I have done it both ways, even both at once, I mainly am referring to shock cord on the ends of the lt and rt side tie outs. This leaves the Prussiks in about the normal position.

That's been my limited experience. Using the HH hex fly that I added a "permanent" ridgeline to and shock cord tensioners to the guy lines.

At least until my superfly arrives.

Ok, seems like we are doing it the same way: added a tarp ridgeline and shock cords to side guy lines. Works fine for me with the stock tarp, regardless of whether I suspend it separately or using the hammock prusik hooks.
