No disrespect intended by using another vendor's image in this thread about Cedar Ridge.

Yep, I think that was the problem. Nice illustration (and though CRO is awesome, my tarp happens to be a UGQ )

The internal poles work best when using a continuous ridgeline with the tarp hung over the ridgeline. The top of the poles should be between the ridgeline and the tarp. The pressure and ridgeline in this position holds the poles in place.

In wbJohn's photo of tarp on the Tensa tarp extensions, it appears he's not using any ridgeline at all. The tips of the extension poles might be going right through the tarp RL attachments. At least I've done it that way on occasion.

Gotcha. I’m still playing with the Tensa and haven’t gotten to the Tarp extensions yet. But I will try it both ways. I’m not sure why it never occurred to me to just not use a ridgeline.

Don't know if I mentioned it, but I tried to use my poles on my tarp, but couldn't get them to fit right -they were pulling really tense one way, and then they wouldn't stay when I tried it another way - but I hadn't tried using bungee to keep them in their place.

    Thanks,

I didn't have any shock cord with me at the time and just used some Lash-it that I had spliced with loops on one end and a small clip (kind of plastic alligator clips) on the other. I looped one end around the pole at the top and ran the other end around the end of my stand. This seems to have worked fine but I plan to replace the ropes with shock cord.

That's correct. I put s-biners on each end of the tarp ridge and just slip them over the Tensa tarp extensions. If I was in the trees, I run a ridgeline over my tarp with prusiks that I clip the s-biners to.
