Beaver Bay to Split Rock

Hey campers!

Been quite a while! Dusting off the gear and finally making my way up to The SHT in October. Bringing a newb with so don't want too much of an obstacle course or hard miles. Any recon anyone could give on this section would be much appreciated.
Right now planning to arrive on a Saturday around 5 pm and hike north of the Beaver bay trailhead 3/4 mile and camp there. Sunday backtrack South and either go all the way to Split Rock or Chapins Ridge (which is better?). Monday head in to Split Rock and then Head back North and hang at Christmas Tree or make it all the way back to the site we'll have camped Saturday night.

Or am I missing a section that would be better? Beaver Bay is about 5 hrs from where we'll be heading from( North Iowa) so want to try and keep it around that distance in the interest of time.

Been into the BWCA bunches but never on the SHT so really looking forward to it!

Missed seeing your show at the MN fair this year. Daughter and I were planning to drive up but life got in the way. Something to look forward to for next year.
