Not that long ago I decided to give hammocking a try and bought myself a Dutchware Chameleon. Shortly after that my wife bought herself a Chameleon. Decided that for the kids, I'd give DIY a try. I bought myself a sewing machined and started teaching myself to sew. Today I built my first true piece of DIY camping gear (other than stuff sacks and other minor mods). I made a 10 1/2 foot sewn channel gathered end hammock in HOT PINK for my daughter. It's made from 1.0 Hyper-D ripstop from Ripstop by the Roll. Made a pair of 8 inch continuous loops from 7/64" amsteel as well as an OCR adjustable ridgeline using Zing-It. She couldn't wait to hang it up in the backyard and I think she likes it so far.

But she was less thrilled when I decided to try it out myself.

Still looking to add some pack hooks to the sides, and add some other D-rings for misc attachment points. Plan to make an organizer for the head end as well as a ridgeline organizer. Lot's of other projects to complete after this one. I have fabrics to make a hammock for my son (brilliant blue Hexon 1.0), 2 bottom entry bugnets, 2 Xenon tarps, and some snake skins. Then our family will be fully set for camping in hammocks as a family.
Thanks for all the great info you all share here on the site.
