Welcome to the forums from North Oakland county. There's lots of Michigan hangers and if you have the opportunity, come out to a group hang and meet some new peeps! In October there's the Chili Hang near Jackson and the Gluttony Hang outside of Gaylord (link on signature). If you're into cold weather hanging, there's one in Ludington in January, and in February, the Green Timbers Big Tree Hang up near Vanderbilt.
Enjoy your stay!

You are in right place. Hammock campers near you that have group hammock hangs. And if you like backpack hammock camping, you will find hammock campers to go on two day trips.
After you conquer CBS and CRP you will have it made.

Hello from Mid-Michigan!
You can learn quite a bit lurking, doing some backyard or local hangs with more experienced hangers will net you plenty of advice, new ideas and gear checks.
I'd suggest a group hang this Fall, you are in luck, there are several only a few hours away.
Good luck with the "Ropes" and see you soon at a group hang....

Life is way too short to fill it with drama
Will be trying to get to the Chili hang...and the Gluttony...
I am still missing a tarp to cover my AMOK XL.
Been looking @ the HG Palace, SL Winter Haven or the Warbonnet Superfly........ with Pole mods and door tiebacks. I'm now concerned that there isn't enough lead time which ever way I go; to get it, before the end of the month...
Any thoughts or recommendations gratefully accepted.

Any hang you get to is always a great opportunity to see lots of gear. Regarding the tarp: I guarantee Jared at SLD would make you what you need (winter haven 90 degree) in your time frame. His turnaround time is faster than fast and lots of good intel on his vendor subforum.
Hey and welcome to HF! Another Draumr n00b from IN down here, also without the tarp. I am also looking and saving for those same tarps, but also waiting to see what the Amok news about some new product and/or material options is in about a week. I might end up with a Borg (which I was thinking of getting anyway) and then save for the full coverage cold weather tarp later.
Oooh, shiney! What does THIS button do?
