Spindrift Sock pad zipper question

when using a sleeping pad, is the pad zipper needed on the spin drift?

You don't need it, but it saves you a lot of fiddling. The zipper simply lets you access the opening between the layers directly, but you could always insert the pad from inside the sock if you wanted to.

I have a 1st gen Spindrift (double door) and had a zipper put in at the foot end. Do you need it? No, but having a zipper makes it waaay easier to put in a pad. Since I now use an underquilt 100%of the time the zipper is not used now. If/when I upgrade to the new style Spindrift I won’t get the zipper mod.
