    Tarp management

I will be investing in some snake skins in the future, but for now I'm looking for some interesting ways to temporarily keep my tarp on the ridgeline, but folded out of the way when I don't need shade or rain cover.

There are some pretty clever folks here. My current setup is a single ridgeline under my tarp with prusiks holding the tarp taut. 12' hex fly.

    Throw some suggestions this way!

Throw one side of the tarp over the other and attach it to the stakes. Or go with porch mode if you have sticks/trekking poles and extra cordage.

You could roll it (hopefully not windy) and use some of those velcro strips. But really at that point, a single mesh sleeve is so much easier and unbeatable for $20.

Yep, this is what I'd do.
    1. Stake the tarp out on both sides so it's pitched how you'd want it if it was storming.
    2. Unhook side A from the stakes, leaving those stakes in the ground.
    3. Flip side A of the tarp over side B that is still staked out.
    4. Hook side A to the same stakes side B is hooked to.

If a storm moves in, you'll be able to flip side A back and reattach to its stakes for full coverage much faster than you'd be able to deploy a tarp that's rolled up in snakeskins.

View some sailing youtube videos where the boat is under power. You may see the mainsail lashed to the boom with line that makes loops around it. Following that example, you can use the guy lines attached to the tarp. I don't think you need a pretty fold/roll but do gather the tarp about the ridge line. Hard to describe but easy to see, you make a half-hitch loop around the tarp, then move down a little, continuing to gather the tarp, and make another. As you reach the end of the guy line, you finish the last loop with some "slippery" knot. If the guy line is not long enough for the whole tarp length, you can use the guy line at the other end and go towards the middle.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

Hairties that don't use metal pieces. That's what I use.

Elastic hair ties work great. Those ones the girls wear for a ponytail. Super cheap too.

Install five or six on the ridge line. Roll up tarp, tossing in the guylines as you go. Then slide a hair ties out around the bundle.

Thanks, simple and quick. I was mentally making it seem more complicated with rolling around ridgeline and lashing or tying with guy lines.

    Just gotta remember my stakes..

Yes, the WALL! It sounded like you wanted it completely out of the way for a view, but if half is OK, this is a great option. In this scenario I was at the top of a ridge and wanted to block the wind from the SW.
