Any spots that are similar to the style of car camping on 105 in Linville gorge along the NC/ VA state line?

What about in WVA?

Never been to Linville Gorge, but there is decent car camping at Shenandoah National Park and near Triangle VA at the Prince William Forest Park there. Incidentally, the "Old Dominion" VA Hammock Hangars are sponsoring their 6th Annual Hammock Hang in Prince William Forest Park in November....looks like it will be a fun one.

Woodstock Tower/ Little Fort is close to I-81 with lots of trails and very nice views:

I haven't been the yet, but the rangers at Pisgah on the Parkway below Asheville, NC, told me there were nice sites with pairs...
