I’d have to say that of all the reading, YouTube etc I have done on hammock hiking and camping Shug has been most helpful. Plus I relate to his age me being a late starter at 64 lol

I moved to MN from Alaska and really missed the feeling of wide open wilderness you got living in the bush. On a lark I started looking up winter MN camping videos on YouTube and stumbled across Shug videos. He opened my eyes to the BWCA, Superior Hiking Trail, and all the other areas in MN you can get out and get some wilderness woods time in.

Of course I saw him talk about hammocks enough that I gave it a try. Now my wallet is much smaller, I own about 3 different hammocks, and numerous underquilts and topquilts. I actually dream of sleeping in my hammock when Im at home now!

Shug always helped me get motivated for the trips where I sometimes started thinking "I don't feel like going now" a few hours before heading out.

He convinced me to finally check out the Linville Gorge. I just got back and had an amazing time. Actual real hiking. In a way, it sort of blew it for me now because Indiana and Michigan will just be a "flat stroll thru the woods" going forward.

Shug got me started a decade ago in hammocks through one of his trip videos and funny enough, it was one of his BBQ videos I came across on a college football forum that sent me back down the rabbit hole and eventually back into the woods after a long hiatus. Many thanks, Shug.

"Anticipating it is part of the excitement" - from Shug's recent F1 video. Not hammock related, but man that's such a true statement for anything!

I'm loving watching all of Shug's videos. Super entertaining and informative at the same time. I was just watching the whole hammock how to series. I probably should have started watching them in the beginning, but even though we've been out quite a few times, it is helping me dial in my hang a bit better. I finally added a ridgeline and that helped so much!

Thanks! I'll check them out tonight! I know I need to work on my connection points so I need to pay attention to that. I've been practicing knots, but I need to practice more so they stick in my head. Your slow motion enactment was hilarious!

    Shug and his influence...

Every time I pass our security guard at work I salute and say “all secure in sector 17”. He never laughs. Never gets it. I always have fun. And the deer fight always makes me laugh.

Shug’s videos have made a difference. He’s a good teacher.
