Before you go and repair the thing I would suggest setting up on a particularly buggy night and see if the mosquitoes can find the hole. They probably can but we simply can't know without someone trying it and I am more than willing to let you be the guinea pig.

My concern isn't whether the mosquitos find it, but rather if a zipper, twig, or my stray fingers find it and tear it wide open.

I would just stitch up close the hole, make it a 7 or mirrored F.
