Anyone have any suggestions (short of cutting them off completely) to prevent the bugnet tie-outs from jamming up the zipper on the Blackbird xlc? The design is so infuriating to me.

I personally do not use these for this and other (tripping) reasons
Is this the 2.0 xlc? That has the reversible bug net? And we are talking about the tabs on the inside of the hammock? That get caught in the zipper?

He’s talking about the two ribbons for tying the net into a roll so it’s out the way, but not fully unzipped. They do indeed tend to get snagged on the zipper. And to that I say… no thanks. So I cut mine off.
I haven’t cut mine off yet but have been thinking about it.
Tie them into a bow (double-slippery reef knot)?

I have thought about cutting them off, too. Especially since I have only used them once in about 9 years. I think there would have been better solutions. On the other hand, they are only getting in the way when I switch from net top to top cover and vice versa, which is not very often. If you don't want to cut them off you could simply hand stitch them to the net. Should you ever need them, this would be easily reversible.
This was my thought, as well. After catching them in the zipper 90% of the time on my Eldorado, I am going to hand stitch the two ribbons to each other through the bug net. My first concern was doing damage to the netting, but I am confident it can handle it, as long as I do a careful job with the stitching (and allow for a little slack/movement, maybe?).
Actually, I just had a better idea. I am going to try to hand stitch a couple of small rare-earth magnets into the ends of the ribbons. Much less worry about damaging the netting, I think. This approach also shouldn't affect the intended functionality should I ever want to tie back the netting in the field.
Magnet idea was brilliant! I happened to have some, and they're strong (shook the hell out of the hammock) enough to keep the ribbons out of the way. I think a dab of fabric glue might be good enough to keep em in place.
