    2. No worrying that you'll wake up with a pond or creek under you, that's washed away your ground cloth.
Those were two of my thoughts after I got it together, but the main reason was I thought it would cool. Luckily practical and cool came together this time.

As I experimented with my truck setup I found an interesting upside to the setup. One of the main constraints is the narrowish width of the base limited by the width of the truck bed. I was warned this may be uncomfortable because the poles would be to narrow not allowing for a decent cross wise lay. Interestingly the assymetric design allows me to hang slightly past and below the tailgate. This puts me below the poles negating any clearance issues of the narrow base.

Have fun. I can picture myself falling off the tailgate or missing my re-entry to the hammock after a 3am pee break. That would leave a mark.

When I go out with my truck the ball hitch is my instant anchor.

I really like this! Nice job! Makes me wish I still had my pickup truck around to try this out.

Super! Looks like a good solution for really tight spaces. How long are your head and foot poles? And how long is the ridgeline?

Ridge line is 10 feet. Total length on foot poles is around 86 inches and the head is around 110. Admittedly the narrow base makes a good cross lay a little hard but I tend to sleep kinda straight.
