2019 Fall MAHHA Sept 20-22nd - Official Planning Thread

    Drum roll please.....

Howdy, howdy, howdy. We appreciate all donations and love raising money for the trail community, AT Museum, and Pine Grove Furnace which fosters family time and ushers thru-hikers through the half-way point of their journey.

    Hennessy Hammock
    https://hennessyhammock.com

We want to give a warm welcome to our very first donating vendor for the Fall MAHHA raffle. In reading news, poems and history on Tom's website, I ran across this little nugget from his personal experience:

"As the tornado passed over the hammock, the hammock popped into a reversed curve and I was floating around inside weightless, like I was in outer space."

Yes, you need to find this blurb in his "About Us" section. While you're on his site, check his fine products. Solid stuff and such a rich history in how he got his start in the industry. Thank you, Tom, for donating the 4 Season Expedition Asymmetric Zip Hammock which goes for $269.95. The double bottom holds foam insulation pad on the correct diagonal. Sweet! Oh, he also included another item: Snakeskins for $19.95! If you're not familiar with what these handy guys are (I love mine), they are an instant stuff-sack for your tarp or hammock. If you order a hammock from Hennessy Hammock, they include one with each hammock for free. Yeah, these guys are so completely AWESOME.

So, throw some love and likes to HH and give their sites a browse today.

2019 Fall MAHHA Sept 20-22nd - Official Planning Thread

    UGQ Outdoors
    https://ugqoutdoor.com/

If there was a one-stop-shop, one of them would be this cottage company out of Jackson, Mississippi. UGQ feature quilts, tarps, down hats, hammocks, and packs. They have some sweet gear options and customizations. Their website shows that if you dream up color combos, they can make it happen. Yeet.

Thank you, UGQ, for donating 4 gift certificates totaling $150.00. I know there are some people with their eye on some of your gear. MAHHA attendees, save up your paper for tickets and enter to win one of these gift certificates!

2019 Fall MAHHA Sept 20-22nd - Official Planning Thread

    Shug

    The one.
    The only.
    Shug.

Since I Googled, “How to hang in a hammock”, I’ve been watching Shug’s YouTube vids day in and day out. While folding laundry, making dinner, ironing, (just kidding, I don’t believe in ironing) I cut my hammock hanging teeth on this man’s hammock tutorials. For a decade, Shug has been teaching us how to tie knots, use hammock hanging hardware, hang tree straps properly, juggle while riding a unicycle, and smoke some fine meats. He believes in the values of music, family time, cracking up with friends (laughing is a universal language), and adventuring solo.

Here’s where us MAHHA attendees can make a difference. The more views he gets, the more sponsors will like his site traffic and send him cool stuff to review. It's certainly cyclical. So, if you believe in Peanut Butter Pop Tarts, Medaglia D'Oro Instant Espresso and breakfast from the hammock, give Shug some ups and likes on his latest videos. Oh, and he is a believer in supporting the trail community, so he sent over a super-soft Shug Shirt to raise money in our raffle. Whooo, Buddy! Thank you, Shug!

Side note: Fun read by the Star Tribune on him. Made me giggle. http://www.startribune.com/a-staple-...too/503858602/

I can’t make it this year...as I’m participating in the BOW program in DE that same weekend (with my hammock and tarp). I’ll miss seeing you all but hope to see you in Spring 2020. Have fun!
