Pretty dern cool!! Think I'd like something where the hitch holds a post for one side to be attached there and then to a tree. Anything like that out there?

As Dana Carvey might say dressed as the Church Lady, "Isn't that convenient?"

Seriously, it looks sweet--I can see it might be very handy in all sorts of ways from catching a snooze on a long road trip to car camping with friends. Nice work!

old gringo did one a while back, works great.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.

Looks great. The only thing I would add is a foot under the middle of the stand to take the weight off the truck suspension.
I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.

This is old gringo's thread from 2015 about the one tree hammock stand that works off of the trailer hitch. Looks like an easy hitch to make. People were worried about hooks slipping out. Seems an easy fix to cut holes in the side of the pipe for them. Another concern was the pipe moving around on the ball hitch. The insert trailer and ball aren't that expensive. Could buy a spare and weld the pipe to it. No more movement.

I made a jack stand for it, was thinking I would need it to be solid but after putting the bolts in it doesn’t sway any. Got a friend who is a mechanical engineer maybe he can do some load calculations for me. The hitch is rated for 1,400 pound tongue weight.

Very well thought out and fabricated, Roger. Why am I not surprised? Thanks for the heads up about this.

Very nice... I’d bet my grandsons would like that on their dad’s truck —- to hang out while at tournaments and games. One could relax while the other is playing. Nice work!

Nice work. What’s the measurement between the mounting points for the gathered ends? I’ve got a 12’ Warbird wondering if it would fit.
