Not quite finished need to paint but thought I would post some pictures and a description.

The Hammock is a chameleon and tarp a super fly.

Made from 2x2 and 2.5 x2.5 3/16 square tubing.
The tarp extensions are 1.5 x1.5 aluminum.
The horizontal piece is 42 inches and the ends cut at a 45 deg angle. Welded two 6 inch 2.5x 2.5 on the 45 to receive the 2x2 section for the poles. The piece from the vehicle receiver to the horizontal is 17 inches and cut so the horizontal pieces tilts downward 30 degrees. This gave me a good height with 6 foot poles and moved the ends away from the horizontal piece so I was not hanging over metal, an added bonus I can also open the tailgate.
Both poles are 6ft (can slide the head end down through the 2.5 piece as needed to get the feet higher than the head)
Tapped the location where the pieces slide together so a bolt can be threaded in to take out the play in the connections and lock it in place.
I think the only thing I would change is make the horizontal piece out of 2x4 tubing, not for strength but the 4 inch metal would have matched up better with the angle and made it cleaner looking.
I’ve only spent a few hours napping in it, seems to be pretty solid.
