    What are these called?

I've seen them over the years. Not a big hate like hardware guy so not sure how to use them.

I came into a bunch of them in different sizes but don't know what they are called or how to use them.

I believe they are called COGS. A vendor sold these here for a short while. I have been looking for the smaller version for a while

    Thank you.

What was the ultimate fate of these?? I've scanned the posts and see some mention of slipping..
Looks like they work similar to a Loop Alien, Speed Hook combo.

I wasn't really familiar with them, but found them through a little searching.

The thread I linked to was locked in May 2016 and later the same day, this one was started.

By the end of July 2016 it seems like interest in the product had faded (see post #32) and the guy has not posted whatsoever since then.

I agree they seem to have some functionality in common with LoopAliens. Using them seems needlessly complicated to me, but that's just one man's opinion.

Edit: Quite a few of the posts are by Squidmark, which I hope doesn't cause you any further grief. Interesting to think the one you photographed might be the same as one of them shown in his photos. :\

It's all good.. I appreciate the links. I find enjoyment in stumbling across Squids old posts. No grief at all. If you notice, in the picture I posted there is some color transfer onto the cog. Not sure if that was his doing, to remind himself of how to set them up (I am finding little notes all over the place) or if that is cord burn.

As I browse through his gear I get a chuckle out of some of the things I am finding. experiments, failures, notes. Some stuff I recognize right away and other thing.. I have said out loud.. 'Sqid.. what the.. ? What were you thinking?? '. I've also looked at a few things and thought.. genius.

I had a set of the first edition of these. There really isn't any instructions on use. We just played around with different ways to use them.

Thanks.. I think I found most of the threads. They aren't something I would use, but I have at least half a dozen of the large ones. I'll be giving them away shortly.
