Quick deploy ridge line

About a year ago, I was just getting into hammock camping. I stumbled across David Canterbury on a late night youtube binge, and from his channel I stumbled further into his colleagues channel: Corporal's corner.
He makes a wonderful simple ridgeline system that I have used and reused ever since. Both for myself and my friends.

It's a simple 6m piece of paracord with at least three prussiks on it. That's it. But it makes my life so dang easy. Centering the tarp over the hammock is dead simple.

So consider this my thanks, Corporal; I really Appreciate it!

I personally don't use bank line or paracord anywhere in my hammock system, but if it works for you, great!

I've got one of these set up in my H harness rig to use with an Arcturus tarp. The combo is great.

I guess this would work with amsteel, cordura, zing it or whatever. Doesn't have to be paracord.
why not by the way?

I'm guessing it has to do with the major stretch you get from paracord. In addition, I recall it absorbs a lot of water - gets heavy in the rain.

Well I guess in theory this should work with zing it and/or lash it or similar? Amsteel... well any kind of cord like material. Or?

I used paracord with my hammock setup once a few years ago. I was hanging on a river bank while canoe camping. The bank was angled steeply and very rocky; no place for a tent. I needed a guy out point for my tarp on the river side maybe four feet below and to the left of my hammock, so I strung paracord between two distant trees and then guyed my tarp to the paracord.

Other than that, I haven't found a use for it. There's much lighter/stronger/less stretchier stuff out there for ridgelines, especially. Try some!

It's even quicker if you leave RL and guy lines attached to tarp, and you don't need to carry/find those pegs in order to attach.

I've never understood the rationale behind separating RL/guylines from the tarp. Much easier to deploy and less chance to forget when packing if they remain with the tarp.

I've done that. I have a single-piece mesh tarp sleeve, and I've left the RL with the tarp inside. But the last time I did it, I found a reason not to , and since then my wrapped-up RL sits in a pocket at the end of the sleeve.

For the life of me, though, I don't remember what the reason was. I know that having the RL outside of the sleeve interferes with pulling the sleeve away from the tarp when deploying.

They are in the same stuffsack always. And I have one for each tarp.
I don't think it's easier. I have tried it and find it more cumbersome. Maybe if I had snakeskins? I don't use those, so For now separate works fine
