I'm going to be honest and say i got frustrated with the UI and quit.
There doesn't seem to be a way to center or scale an image to fit the pillow shape, nor any indication of what size or aspect ratio the image should be to force it to fit. Am i missing something?
Ideally i would like a [x] Scale To Fit checkbox that would just plaster my picture over whatever object i'm purchasing. Asking people to manually fiddle with scaling rulers is just inviting refund requests.
I agree the UI needs work. I was playing with fabric for a tarp. I had a phonographic landscape i wanted mirrored on the length, every time i rotated it the software make it square. I finally got it and it was poor quality. Again need recommended ratios and image sizes.
I also got frustrated with the UI. If folks find it easy then I must have missed something.
I did, too. Fortunately, I had plenty of time to waste and finally got something to fit on the pillow, but poor quality. Figured I'd work on a better one. The UI was super slow for me, in addition to all the draw-backs you mentioned of having to guess at where you were aiming to end up.
Have to say, I agree too, for anyone looking for precision on the cropping and centering of an image. The dimensions of the pillow are given as 12" x 8". I made a test image with that aspect ratio (even that exact image size) and uploaded it onto the pillow. Centered the image with a size of 12"x8" and it only occupied part of the pillow (a function of the image resolution). Even after playing with the scaling and setting it to 30"x20" which mostly filled the pillow, it's not how I'd expect it to look. The red border should be even around all sides and the circle should be dead center.
I understand the preview software is going to have some limitations, and maybe this application shouldn't be considered for exacting precision on the cropping and such. But a recommendation for the precise aspect ratio and image resolution might be helpful for those who are interested in that kind of precision. Those folks are likely to have tools at their disposal that will let them precisely set the image size and resolution before uploading.
Not trying to be a cynic. Genuinely hoping this kind of feedback can be helpful. I think the idea is great and the response has been very positive, at least re: the concept.
