Hoping to make this one to get to meet folks.
What's the weather like usually... temp-wise etc? Don't want to under/over pack.

So this is "car" camping. Bring any extra you think you might need. Usually we have 70's during the day and 50's at night. That can vary a lot since the site is around 5000 feet elevation. Grayson is notorious for sudden changes in weather. Be prepared for wet weather also. We will post a 10-day outlook ahead of the hang. On the first post I think we have a link to the park weather station.

Most Fall Festival weekends we have been fortunate and had only a small amount of rain but almost always we get some.
We had two of these weekends that were real gully washers.

But we will have the well known 20' x 30' tarp strung high above the two rows of picnic tables (two rows of 4 I believe).
It makes a huge difference when it does rain.

The big, group fire ring is near the edge of the big tarp so we will put another tarp, maybe 15' x 15' give or take, high above the fire ring incase of rain.

I find an umbrella convenient in camp if it rains. No sweat.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

    Thanks for the donation Mac.
Wish you could join us but enjoy learning homesteading. That would be interesting.

Hickery, before I know it, I’ll be scrambling around getting packed for Grayson. My bugnet is wearing out, will still use it one more time for skeeters this fall. Thinking of Fronkey bugnet, but it will be made for a 12 foot hammock...
    Looking forward to fall colors

PG, I disliked the idea of a Fronkey net until I made one and tried it at THE John rock hang. I now rank it second to integrated net for my preferred bugnet type.
