Has anyone tried Hummingbird Hammock gear?

At 5'1" you'd be greatly served by one of SLD's "Starter" 10' 1.3 oz fabrics. Plenty light and a great value. I'm sure Jared would make you a 9' if you wish to save a few more grams. At your height I don't see why 9' wouldn't work for you.

I happily used Hummingbirds Tree strap/whoopie dealio for a few years.

I have a full set of the Hummingbird Hammock gear. Single Plus Hammock / Heron Rain Tarp / Warbler Bug Net. I am 5'4 and weigh 140 pounds.

I have had absolutely no problem with the size of the hammock itself, if you get it I would definitely get the Single *Plus* though, the regular single may be a little too small.

I'm able to get diagonal easily and haven't had any issues sleeping in the hammock other than your regular issues when sleeping (heat, humidity, etc).

Pros:

-Extremely lightweight, the hammock stuff sack itself is almost comically small.
-The material and breathable and feels good when some good wind is pushing through your under quilt on a hot night.

Cons:

-Kind of difficult to get used to the friction adjusters. They don't have the best videos on their website to explain exactly how to do everything, but maybe I'm just a noob

I have their first Kickstarter hammock, love it on day hikes, and I sleep quite well, quite well.
I like the size, and pair it with an MEC sleeping bag Pod-style.
I actually prefer it to our regular size hammocks.
I guess I just like to be different...

Wow! That's barely a kids hammock. I cant imagine that being comfortable at all. Also the cheap hammocks are not that much cheaper than a good cottage vendor single layer hammock. Saving a few bucks is usually never worth it in the long run over buying quality.

So far, in my experience the quality scale tips toward the cheap hammocks. My cheap big box store hammock is better quality and more comfortable than my cottage vendor hammock that cost 3x more.

I have a similar hammock and prefer the compact size. Have you had any issues work the pod set up?

I have been using the single+ for 10 months now as a backpacking hammock, its very thin but as long as you're not careless you will be fine. Its 116 inches long (the single is 104 inches) and my only complaint is that the button in their button link system is on the long side stock, this means it cant pull-through a knot in the suspension (i'm using 1/8in dyneema). I switched it to the short side of the button-link as soon as it arrived and its been a small improvement ever since.

I have a HH Pelican tarp and their Puffin underquilt. Don't have one of their hammocks though. But, I love the tarp. Extremely lightweight.

Hummingbird now offers the Long Hammock at 128" by 63" at 8.2oz in the parachute fabric. I do use the single plus for daytime napping and just hanging out on day hikes.

I have the Single+ with their webbing straps/whoopie slings, too. I'm 5'9" and i fit pretty well. I'm still a noob, though, so i'm trying to dial in my setup with this hammock. The suspension is really nice and easy to set up. Just like buttoning your pants!

It's possible that it is a little short, especially for taller folks, but the jury is still out for my evaluation of it. I like that it fits under my 7x9 square tarp, which is the main reason i went with it. Well, that and the ounces.
