My Tensa Solo + DreamHammock + Superfly setup for Burning Man

    Hey folks

I'm a long-time Burner, and figured I'd make things a bit more . . . interesting (not to mention comfortable) this year by going with a Hammock rig! I set up my camp today in the back yard and since I haven't seen a whole lot of Tensa Solo users posting about their experiences, I thought I would share.

Here's a teaser, but the rest of the pics are on Imgur here: https://imgur.com/a/UzNNZPW

    Hammock: DreamHammock Dangerbird
    Tarp: Warbonnet Superfly
    Shade cloth: Silvishade 80%

dorkusprime - love the user name.

Thanks for sharing your rig and insights. How's that shade cloth work for you? Care to share any pros/cons or likes/dislikes?

I've thought about getting one for my backyard, but now you've got me thinking about my hammock setup, too. Feed me...

Looks good. Made sure you have good stakes that will hold in that desert ground.

Setup looks good to me, especially the shade cloth, great idea for that desert sun.

Have fun out there, wish I was going!

My experience is varied. Screws bent and one pulled in sandy loam. In spite of all the comments on here, the screws were installed full length but the ground was not solid enough to keep them from moving. Middle Tennessee in June, the set up worked well. The clips which lock the pole in place tend to move during travel. Also the line through the tarp extension rubs the next pole when collapsed fraying the cord. An O ring may help.
Never having visited the Playa, I have no idea if the rig will work. When it works it is good, when it doesb't it is a pain in the butt-especialy since that's where I landed.

i love the look of that tensa solo. doesnt seem at all strong enough lol! looks can be deceiving though. just curious, why did you decide to go the tensa solo route instead of the tensa4?

Bulk. I ride a motorcycle and while ounces are not super critical, space is. This uses two poles, not four. Length is short enough for my motorcycle designed dry bag. The four supposedly puts less pull on the one screw or mounting point so might be less prone to pull out.

Also remember this thing is long. Six to eight feet from pole to screws on each end plus the length of your shade cloth.
