Be very careful with the Chameleon. You'll set it up to test it, slide into it, and then wake up nine hours later.
Don't make any plans, is all I'm saying.

Good choice. I love my Chameleon. I like the new side attachment for storing nighttime gear.
I hate pads--I always wake up with cold body parts hanging off somewhere and they are difficult to adjust and noisy and just feel . . . plasticky. Underquilts and top quilts are a wonderful invention. They are warm and comfy and just plain delightful.
Enjoy the hunt!

Your bio says Texas. Where will you be hunting? Have you ever done it there? How late in the year? You may not need bugnet. With the low temps you are going to bee geared up in layers of clothes, UQ and TQ as well as a hat and depending on your thin Texas blood maybe a balaclava. I wouldn’t waste the money or hassle of a bug net unless you know you are going into a particularly nasty bug area.
Just my 2cents.
I am going to do a similar hunt. Where I am going in Colorado there will be no bugs. Basecamp will be at 11,000 feet. The temps will be similar with 30s at night and 70s during the day.
The above suggestions are spot on.
I'm big into diy/myog and just need to make my underquilt/topquilt yet. Not going until next year so I have some time. I may make a lighter hammock too using 1.3 mountain instead of the 1.6 xl hyper d.
