Wow this was my 7th John Rock hang and the third one I have had the honors of co hosting. Just want to thank all who attended, you make this hang. Also want to thanks Pappyamos, Intimidator, Detailman, Bush, Peeetey, Deb, Foxpoop, Eric, and all the others that helped make this Decade old hang a success. I logged over 40 miles during this event going up and down the hill. Great workout, will help make my (_*_) lighter. Pack is heavier though. See you all next year. Loki great to see a legend like you in attendance thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. Hickery thanks for the sticker and remember I get the first Mapleking T shirt.
Straight out of Clayton.
Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.
I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.

"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.
Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.
The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy,
while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn." — John Muir
I finally got the remnants of that hot dog out of my esophagus early this morning and all is well now. I did leave a soda stashed in the creek so the wife and baby joined me for an afternoon hike back to the enchanted forest to make sure I left no trace. It is amazing the difference just a few hours makes, no campers, fire, or any gear left behind save for 1 bent tent stake.
I had a great time in spite of my hangup, thanks to everyone who came and made this a memorable hang. Can’t wait till next year!
glad to meet so many of you this weekend. Your hospitality is second to none. It sure was nice waking up to 59 degrees this morning, too. Glad titanium made it ok. The rain didn't dampen the fun at all. Ill be back! kudos to the organizers and the many runners that shuttled the giant tarp, all the food and everything else..
Glad to hear a great time was had by all. Hope to make it next year.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
Thanks to Tacoma and FoxPoop for a great hang. Finally got back to this hang after a couple years missing. Nice to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones. Watched in "HORROR" as the tarp finally went up in the rain - safely enclosed under my tarp.
About died going up Cedar Rock. 45 minutes up from the turn off, 15 minutes down. Thanks for the warning Loki. It looks better from the bottom. Good view from the top but not much in the way of looking at the "rock". Next year - Looking Glass!!!!!
