Thanks for the suggestions on the various USB fans. I think those would be good in mild heat but I don't think they will cut it in extreme temps. I'm eyeing the Ryobi 18V P3320 fan, suggested earlier by brutalguyracing, that runs off an 18V lithium battery. It's much lighter (2lbs.) than other job-site fans and I think will make it bearable with the type of temps I'm expecting.

Move to Minnesota....stay in your room and watch Shug and Matthew Posa prepare their meals in the snow on YouTube.

I'm already doing enough of that vicarious living stuff. Where would we be without Shug entertainment?

    It's pretty simple:
    1. Take one cup of concrete.
    2. Harden up!

Concrete has rocks. In my experience, cement goes down much smoother Don’t forget to add water first as well! I first heard a variation of this joke on a Tremors movie and it cracked me up lol.

Something like: “Well you better swallow some cement, boy… AND HARDEN THE _____ UP!!”

I agree with you the temps have actually been unusually mild this summer in this region at least. Today was the first day we hit triple digits and I'm seeing the heat index near Lake Texoma, which I hope to visit soon, has a heat index of 105F. I definitely will get out there soon.
Man Texoma certainly gets hot, but at least you can jump in. You could try LBJ Grasslands, at least there are some shady spots and few watering holes. I'm afraid you're going to have to cross the river and get some altitude to escape the heat. Turner Falls OK, Broken Bow OK, lots of stuff from Mena to Lake Ouachita in Arkansas. It's definitely a drive, but I just spent a week in New Mexico and it was awesome. It was 44* one night, but that was at 11400 ft.

Why camp in the middle of summer in the south??? Well I do because I care about the kiddos (I guess)... Scout camp in July here in NC in the high 90's and low 100's during the day and really high humidity at night (literally rained every afternoon but one the week we were there). I found it very manageable with a 16" Hurricane quiet fan set right outside the foot end of the hammock blowing toward the head end. Heck it even came with a remote so I could turn it down to low around 4am. Nothing a few 100' drop cords cant fix! All I used for cover was a flannel twin sheet (It got damp so I hung it out during the day to dry out as best it could).
I'm really liking the Ryobi idea for a short backpacking or car camping type scenario without power. They seem popular in the Van dwelling community also. But lets be honest, Ill go camping, but I'm not going backpacking in weather over 80 degrees if I have a choice.
