    Hemlock Mountain Outdoors

    https://hemlockmountainoutdoors.com/

This company popped up in a Facebook ad a while ago and I just checked out their site. Their stuff looks pretty good on paper/screen, and allegedly handmade in Northeastern PA. Nothing overly interesting or unique, although they have an early access program for a synthetic UQ they're working on. If I hadn't just gotten a TrailWinder from SLD, I might get in on that.

I'm not affiliated with them in any way, just sharing what I found.

Eh, we reached saturation point a few years ago, since then people have just been reinventing the wheel.

Hey if they can make a living doing what they love more power to them. It never hurts to have some competition.

$90 to beta test a 40-50 degree underquilt still seems....high

maybe i'm out to lunch, I wouldn't suspect a lot of 50 degree underquilts are out in the wild to begin with

I was going to argue but went back and read about it first. I thought it was Down, it's not. I'm don't see a weight so not really sure of any benefit over a snugpak for $45.

Kurt, look forward to your sucess. looking at the air light chair , maybe a tarp.

Interesting as I wouldn't be far from them. If they had an interesting accessory I might give them a shot.

We have a 40° synthetic UQ for our guest hammock. No need for anything colder or down really. I think I paid around $100 for it from Walhalla Hammocks. I need another one as we have two guest hammocks now. Although, I think our walhalla guest hammocks are more comfy than my XLC! Slept in our new guest hammock last night with the Wooki attached.

A guy named Kurt Zitzelmin runs it. He's an avid hiker/backpacker in northern PA. He has a youtube channel that's pretty good. For trails in PA I often go to his channel to see if he's hiked it. Kurt Zitzelmin Outdoors if you have any interest. There's several videos showing his hammocks and tarps in use. Basically a DIYer who decided to start selling his designs.

I originally was looking at the Dutchware half zipped when I stumbled upon Hemlock Mountain Outdoors. With the Redtail Hammock I ordered it comes stock with dual zip zippers on both sides that allows access or exit from both sides as well as allows the bug net to be either rolled up and secured to the ridgeline or removed and rolled up in an end cap.

I ended up contacting Kurt through his customization form on his website and asked if he could add a few more tie outs(his already came with 4) and pack hooks for underquilt suspension and a couple of D rings inside near the peaks for a peak bag. He was more then happy to add those options at a reasonable price to the cost of an already reasonably priced hammock.

I’ll post a review as soon as I have it and have had the opportunity to try it it out. I got the 11’ option for the Redtail in which he also makes a 10’ option. He also has a hammock called the Coyote that is wider and comes in 11’ and 12’.
