    Backyard Tree to 6x6

I needed a better location for my backyard hanging so I sunk a 12 foot 6x6, 16' from a big old oak. I used Sika post set expanding foam instead of traditional cement. I went down 42" and rounded off the corners with a 3/8" rounding over bit on the router.

That'll work. Is the foam as strong as concrete? Does it set faster?

looks nice! I have 6x6 post for my hammock stands and did not use any concrete or foam if you dig about 4 feet it should hold up nice and a little bit easier to get out. HYOG!!

when we had part of our fence set up for our new house i had them put a 6x6 in the back corner so I could hang from tree to fence post. I did not think about routing it off. (pro tip) I haven't used it though because the new neighbor next door took down a bunch of trees and the other neighbors dogs would probably bark at me back there.

It was a chore to get down 42". The post hole digger was only effective to about 36", then it wouldn't grab anything. On top of that, I have a LOT of rock. I broke several up with a hammer drill and chisel. Also, what worked when I got over the 32" mark was a shop vac. It works awesome getting rocks and dirt up, I would still be digging if I didn't give it a try.
As far as the foam goes, I doubt it is stronger than cement but it sets in less than an hour. You mix the bag and have 15 seconds to pour it in, otherwise the bag can burst. The directions said I should need two, but I needed a third. The foam is springy and the post did go off plumb after hanging, not noticeable without a level though.

If it were me, I would not let neighbor dogs confine what I want to do in my own yard. I'm guessing that their barking would inspire their owners to bring them indoors or encourage them not to bark. For the missing trees, you can use a tarp or full sock for privacy. As far as any "night time trips", in my case, I use the house facilities. My only concern is a neighbor being concerned when they see someone wearing a balaclava entering the house at 3 am. So far, I haven't had to have any "discussions" with the police.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

You would think that would be a logical response but hasn't been the result I usually get.

I have a bad back so I hired a fence post digging company. Done in 15 minutes. Well worth it.

Did the shop vac idea on deck posts. Works great and a lot less taxing on the body.
