    DIY Fleece Underquilt (Ultrabudget)

I live in the UK and was after a summer underquilt. It gets down to about 40 degrees at night and even during the day it's a bit chilly to do without any insulation.
I was after something cheap and cheerful and easy to make.
Then I had a thought. What an underquilt basically is is a fluffy hammock so I set about making just that.
My starting point was a 6ft by 4ft fleece blanket that I picked up in Aldi for about £5 ($7?)
It only needs to support its own weight so only basic whipped ends are needed, with 24" bungee loops also inside the whipping to make it the same length as my hammock.
Attach the bungee loops to the same carabiners as the hammock and job done. Less than 30 minutes work and I'm relaxing in it right now. It's changed my hammock from being slightly chilly to pleasantly warm.

fleece is basically synthetic wool, great insulation even damp. A little bulky but I like this idea. Surely it will keep the skeeters from biting too.

I think you might get better under coverage if you unbind the ends and use some elastic cordage. set ut up like a Snugpak underblanket, maybe add the triangle thingies.

Add a ripstop nylon layer under it to stop the wind from cooling it off and it will be much warmer.

Thanks much! Had been looking for something to fill that niche. Off to Walmart for a fleece throw.
