    Eldorado continuous loop stiff?

So I replaced the CLs on my hammock and noticed the original ones felt like they had some sort of non-sticky stiffener on them. It's hard to explain, and maybe I'm just imagining things, but the cord feels stiff where it wrapped around the gathered end.

Could that be from the tension on it or am I for real imagining it? There's nothing wrong with them, I just swapped them out for a couple of these I made:

Warbonnet uses some heat shrink tubing at the joint of their CLs and it looks like yours got chewed up a bit and possibly mashed into the braid.

Amsteel can get stiff like that after being loaded many times the same way. Particularly on a cont loop or the loop on the end of a dogbone. You can typically loosen it back up by manipulating it by hand

OK I didn't know Amsteel would do that, thanks.
