    INDOOR hanging??

On a similar note to the recent “backyard hang” post... What unique ways do you hang inside?

We bought a pretty small house when we moved to FL earlier this year (2bd/1ba) so now need to figure out where to sleep if family visits. We’ll give the guests our queen bed and we’ll sleep in the living room on couch and/or hammock(s).

Problem is, my wife won’t let me just mount big ol’ eyelets or hooks in the wall… and its too freaking hot/muggy outside between Apr & Nov. Thus I need to figure out a more covert/prettier or fully removable way to make it happen inside. And before you mention them, I have no interest in a stand. I’ve got some ideas but want to see what others have come up with too?? Thanks!

My room is 16 feet long. I'm going to get a 16 foot 2x4 and use it as a ridge pole along the ceiling and make 2 end pieces that would resemble a peace sign (without the circle) up against opposite walls. Shouldn't need any holes in the wall. Kind of like a swing set frame. just unhook one end and hang it on a hook up against the wall out of the way.

Yep, indoor hanging with or without stand has been going on here for quite a few years.

You can make shelves with "key" hooks that are structural to hold your hammock. And you can use the shelf to hold your favorite camping/hammocking/hiking books.

You can also put up a picture with tabs/hooks/rings attached thru the pic into the wall. Have a pic of a bull and the ring at the nose...
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

If your wife is ok with holes in the wall as long as they're hidden when not in use, you could get tracks like these:

    https://dutchwaregear.com/product/ad...e-wall-anchor/

The adjustable piece with the ring on it comes out very easily, the remaining track sticks out from the wall 1/2" or less. So it would be easy to hang something decorative over the track when it's not in use.

Note: if your house is made of concrete block, hanging from the walls gets dicey. (When I lived in FL ~30 years ago, the majority of home construction seemed to be concrete block.) If that's the case, you may be able to hang from the rafters.

The other suggestions here are great. I would also suggest if your windows have curtains you can hide mounting hardware behind curtains. I have seen some people use the corner's of doors, but I don't personally like that idea. If you have a closet that you can open while hanging you can have one end of hardware in there. It's out of site when not hanging but there when you need it.

Seems like you could put big enough hooks in the walls, then when not in use hang a couple of pictures with deep frames on them.

Love the ideas guys, keep em comin!
@FloridaHanger - I like the idea of shelves but what do you mean by “key hooks”?
@akaCat - thx for the tip on that track from Dutch. It won’t surprise me if those end up being part of my solution. My house is mixed construction... exterior walls are 8” thick bricks (not concrete block) and interior are wood stud. The bricks are beefier than CMU so should be able to handle the load w/ proper anchors.
@Yak&Trail - wish we had curtains so I could do that but alas, all mini-blinds. LOVE the idea of a hook in a closet, but again, no closet in the living room where I’m looking to hang.
@Bennington.Camper - I like the idea of doing a deep picture frame w/ hollow back to cover the tracks from Dutch.

By key hooks, I mean the regular hooks you would use to hang keys to give that shelf and hook look, but stronger hooks to support your hammock.

I wouldn't hang from ANY masonry wall.
