Double Dutch bugnet & bugs...

I've done a test setup of my Double Dutch setup in my office to prep for a trip to Maine in a few weeks. This really is a great setup. I just got a UQ for my "son's" hammock (he's 3) so that now I've got a whole Chameleon set for him, save an individual bugnet.

For those that have used this setup: do you have any issues with bugs entering the hammocks at the head end? Northern Maine is in the thick of its annual black fly season, and the volume of flies this year can only be described as apocalyptic. The last thing I want to do is subject my son to a week of those mean little flies, which would turn him (and my wife) off of the idea of hammocking with me entirely.

I've taken some photos at the head end, where I'm standing between the wall and the spreader bar. I can sort of weight the hammocks to see what'll happen under load, and it looks like there's enough space where some determined flies could find a way in. And with the number of flies we're going to be dealing with, it's a "infinite number of monkeys, infinite number of typewriters" sort of situation. In both photos, you can see directly between the bugnet and the joining piece into the hammocks. Uh oh.





I was considering adding three snaps to fasten the bugnet to the black middle joining piece that zips between the hammocks... but I don't want to add points that will be subject to stress when the hammocks are loaded and potentially tear the bugnet or the joining piece fabric.

Any thoughts on this? Is this a non-issue? Thanks.

Yeah, when I first wrote out the post, I got a "you do not have permission to do that" error on the photos. So I posted the text first, and then was able to post the photos. Then, when I posted the photos, they were upside down. I hear people complain about that all the time, but this is the first time it's happened to me. I tried everything before giving up and just uploading them to imgur.com and linking to them from there. Sorry, it took me a bit to get around those problems.

Ahhh! That's very helpful, yes... at around 8:05, he says, "I put this on backwards the first time." Well... guess who else did that?

I'll change it up and try again. I'll have to swap some zipper pulls around, but that should get me where I need to be. Thanks for the help.

Yes that center piece is upside down and turning it over will totally fix it.

Yep. It totally did. Having the clips facing down makes complete sense, now that I've seen it installed that way.
