I’m thinking of getting either a side car or side sling for my chameleon. Anyone have either or both? What are your likes/dislikes and which of the two do you prefer? Thanks for any help you may offer.

I have the side sling and I would compare it more to having a gear hammock attached to the side. O suits my purposes more because I like to put medium sized items in it and it’s a perfect place for shoes if they aren’t too dirty. There is enough room for my EE 20 Revelation if I’m Lou gong and want my TQ out of the way. I haven’t tried the sidecar yet so I don’t know about it.

Bigger items like a topquilt or puffer jacket are easier to stuff into the sidecar. Smaller items are easier to access in a sidesling.
You could put one of each on opposing sides if you wanted to.
The sidecar can be combined into a top cover as a single accessory if that's of interest. I don't think that's offered for the sidesling, though I could be wrong about that.
Get the side car and you can hack it to work something like a side sling. At the bottom of the side car are d-rings that you use to stake it out. Attach a mitten hooks to the d-rings then attach to the d-rings on the inside of the chameleon. Dutch sells mitten hooks on a ring, use those cause you can remove the ring and slide on to the d-ring on the sidecar.

I have both and prefer the sling. Sidecar is deeper so harder to reach things . . . but my Baffin boots won't fit in the sling so I use both in the winter.
I bought the sidecar with my Chameleon before the side sling came out. I bought the side sling a few weeks ago and got to try it out at a hang last weekend. I like both. The sidecar is great for holding my top quilt and pillows while the side sling keeps my book and drink handy. If I had to choose only one I would go with the sling. It's long enough to hold a good amount of stuff but shallow enough to be able to reach anything in it without having to roll around.
