I switched from split ridge lines to a continuous ridge line. I could see the trees move in the wind and pull on my DCF tarp. On a different topic, Harry from Hammock Gear did tell me that "Dyneema can delaminate over time, if you over tighten your guy lines", so I looked into ways to relieve the stress on that seam.

On a recent trip where it was pouring rain, I felt that having a CRL made it faster to setup my tarp in the right place. Also, I've started using the above pole mod as cmoulder showed above. I won't go back to split ridge lines now. The only downside was having a long length of zingit to get tangled, but that was solved once I took a moment to wind up the line properly.

I bought a continuous ridgeline for my Cuban tarp, used it three times, never enjoyed untangling it each time I used it, went back to the split ridgeline, and never looked back.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.

I did the same thing! I did take one precaution- in between the split ridge lines and the tarp, I made a thick loop of shock cord ( doubled several times) so it acts as a shock absorber- incase the trees sway in the wind too much. Seems to work well!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

I’ve never used split rings or shock cord on any tarp lines…
No damages over the years from their absence.

Maybe that explains, my tarp looking like a hobo encampment.

I too was worried about tangling all that Zing-It. One thing that helped me manage that problem was to keep the CRL in the mesh tarp sleeve, leaving me with two lengths of line to manage just like I had with the split ridge line.

OP here, I had been using a split before this thread and asked the question because I bought a second palace for my wife. I did try a continuous for a few trips and really didn't like it because I felt it was more of a pain. We have been using split ridgelines on both for a few years with zero issues.
