Around the knot the rope isn't doubled, so at that point it is 1400 lbs.
Breakage strenght of a line has to be considered like being the one of its weakest point.

I've been doing this for years, though, I use Figure-8 knots
I used to use it for my hammock suspension before I switched to straps.
Now i only use it on my tarp

There's no need for that way, IMHO. For load-bearing situations, use the Improved Soft Shackle (I use w/o the little cinch loop at the end) as demonstrated by TacBlades. It is much stronger than shackles using button knots and can never invert. Even better, it is a cinch to tie. I have made many, and I would never attempt the same thing with button knots. Not without going off the anti-psychotic meds, anyway.

For non-load bearing situations, I use some version of paracord - 275 or 100 - and tie diamond knots, which are not hard to tie. Or I use some other cord, like cheap reflective nylon. I like these, because, unlike Dyneema ropes, you can melt the ends. I use these mostly for quick-release tarp guylines, as instructed by Jeff Myers. Or quick-release Prusik knots on my tarp one-piece ridgeline.

Button knots that are tied correctly — cinched down tight with the tails and standing ends pulled with some pliers with tails properly buried in the loop — are not going to invert.

Some people are using this as hammock CL, and while the diamond knot would also suffice for the job, paracord would not.
