A big sale coming up! --- A couple of questions about topquilt & underquilt as well..

I just got an email announcing a big sale from June 1 to June 3 with a coupon code JUNEBUG. It says "All insulation on sale" and I'm pretty excited because I was planning to buy a topquilt and an underquilt from them on May 31st - my first salary is coming, gotta spend it somewhere... - but I guess I can wait one day.

What I was planning to buy is:

Economy Burrow 10 with zipper
Economy Phoenix 10

No overfills or any other extras.

Opinions? I was planning to use them all year around, as night temps in summer can sometimes drop quite cold here in Finland (15C-16C degrees or lower) and I don't fancy the idea having all my clothes on me while sleep. What I've understood you can ventilate these quilts quite well, so you won't be completely toasty.

BTW, are their temperature ratings about comfort range or limit range?

Ive got no problem using a 10 degree underquilt year round, in fact its the rating I recommend to my friends if they are only going to have one underquilt (10 with no overstuff)

Top quilts I cant personally use year round, get the rating you need for a top quilt and get something like a Costco down throw for summer.

Yeah, I noticed the same. The Phoenix went up like 20 USD. One of the reasons why I wait for this sale. :P

Cool to know. I actually have this thermal poncho which works as a summer sleeping bag and as an ordinary quilt, that'll do it.

that's weird because I just went back and priced out the top quilt (40 degree short with sewn footbox)I ordered back in march that was 134.95 then and it still is 134.95 now

Google tells me that 15* Celsius is 59* Fahrenheit. From my perspective, 10* quilts in that temperature are just ridiculous. Forget backpacking with that setup in summer or winter.

Why should I forget winter backpacking with that setup?

Anyway, I'm still switching back and forth about what I should get. Currently I have 20F setup in my cart which should be fine for 3 season backpacking. I already have a synthetic underquilt that goes down to -5C/20F, so I'll probably stack my UQs when it gets colder. Like I mentioned earlier, I have a thermal poncho which can act as a topquilt in the warmer weather, so I think I'm good to go.

EDIT: I plan to stack that poncho and HG topquilt, so I should be fine in that area too!
