    Campgrounds around Traverse City Mi

    Hi there,

I have a question. I'm looking for places to hang near or around Traverse City Michigan this coming weekend. My father is retiring from the ministry and I'm trying to get there for the ceremony. Unfortunately I cannot get any hotels so option 2 is hanging. Any suggestions? In internet searches I have not found much for hanging.

Maybe you can find someone who will let you camp on their land nearby. There is lots of tourism and cabin rentals—probably high demand has increased real estate prices—forcing rentals higher. I hope you can find at least some trees for hammock camping.
There is always stealth camping a little further out
But it is not without risks
    Good luck

Or you might sleep in your car in parking lot at a large gas station or grocery store that stays open all night

Unfortunately, Traverse City State Park has only modern sites or another option if you wanted to camp, would just look for some state land nearby. But, I just did a quick search and came up with the AirBnb: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1372861...BWkpEjspL%2Fsh

Sheck's Place State Forest Campground is another place outside of Traverse City that I hiked through a couple years ago when I was doing the NCT. Good water, first come first served and it's right on the Boardman River and it's got good hammock trees: http://www.michigandnr.com/parksandt...=583&type=SFCG

Summer season just kicked off here in Michigan and northern Michigan, especially the Traverse City area is very popular, so it could be hit and miss. Good luck and enjoy your visit!

Thanks, everyone, this has been interesting but you have given me some spots to check out. Hopefully, I can get this all together. I was looking at sleeping bear but was not sure I could hang there.

Old US 131 state forest campground is really nice, on the Manistee river, not too far from TC.

You wont find one right in traverse but there are campgrounds about 20nto 30 miles outside of town in pretty much any direction you go. One of my favorites is Baxter bridge . Its listed as manton but is closer to Kingsley
