Skipping insulation in summer heat

We are approaching record heat for end of May/1st of June. Still, I see the forecast lows for the next week are from 65-70F. If I was heading out in this region, I am probably going to have to take something for back bottom warmth, or just risk being a bit too cool for a couple of hours most mornings. But, if I am taking my double layer JRB or WB bridge, I will simply use my WM blue torso sized sit pad, or something even lighter. That is actually over kill for 65-70, but I will have it with me anyway. If taking a gathered end, I would take my 10+ year old synthetic WB Yeti with 1 layer of CS in it. This is also way more than needed for these temps(it has done me good in the high 40s), but it is the lightest non pad I have at about 10 oz total.

I found I needed something for under insulation even on mid-summer nights. The really crude underquilt I made from a peice if windproof fleece was effective but, heavier and bulkier than I preferred for backpacking. It was worth it to add a summer weight down quilt.

I was sweating through my clothes in 65F with a three season this weekend. Had to unlcip the UQ. I slept great after that.

Often in the hot summer months I will use just my under quilt protector and a 40F top quilt. I can do that down to about 60 most nights, but just like winter, some 60 degree nights are cooler than others and the sitpad may go under me.

I slept out last Friday night with overnight low of around 21C (69.8F) in sweat pants and shirt. My top side was warm but the ever so slight breeze on my underside way noticable. I still online woke twice for the call of nature but a breeze barrier would have been nice. The other challenge is the humidity. While the temp is just bearable, I noticed bring damp from the humidity which also said me body heat as the temperature oh so slightly dipped through the night. Full disclosure, my comfort zone is 23C (73.4F) and up.

If it's going to be 65° or higher I can get by with just a TQ. Might have a few cool spot moments, but usually sleep just fine. An UQP works wonders in these situations though.

Yeah that is what i like about the MSH, you can use damm near anything as a toggle! That is my Fred Flintstone sized tomato stake cut off toggle.
