    Manistee river trail

It was a very busy weekend. As was to be expected. The people were very nice out there which was good. Not a lot a trash. There tends to be in some spots on that trail for whatever reason. The trail was muddy in some spots. But other than that its groomed . There are a lot of tent campers out there. Hammock camping hasn't really become popular there and I can't figure out why. It's a lot of rolling ground and a lot of roots I sure wouldn't want to sleep on the ground. We had our dream hammocks darian and raven out there and had one guy come look at the features. Said he was tired of crawling on the ground lol. All in all a good trip.

Brave time to go...anywhere really! Every time I did the loop I saw 9/10 camps using hammocks. Hanging right on the trail, right on the water, basically anywhere camp is prohibited.

Glad you had a good weekend out there. Usually it's pretty busy and I just hike through the MRT side and camp on the NCT side of the loop.

Where did you end up camping?

I did the loop clockwise starting at Coates hwy on Saturday; a very nice 20.85 mile over night backpacking trip. It was busy ... even tough finding a parking spot. Only saw one hammock (my own). Track tread was severely worn with some small switchbacks oblivated to point where repair / rerouting may be needed (on Manistee trail side). My favorite loop in Mich lower peninsula (besides Hoist Lake).

My girlfriend took a spill early the first day so ended up staying a 8A but she did finish the mrt side. It was her first real backpacking trip so I would call it a win .
