    Dutchware poles with UGQ winterdream?

Wondering if anyone has used the poles from Dutchware for end pole mods in the winterdream (13 for me)? I see UGQ sells them too, but they are quite a bit more expensive.. Wondering what the difference is, as the sizes are comparable, but the Dutch version is actually a bit lighter (about 12 oz vs. 16 oz for a pair).
I have a gift card for Dutch so if I can get them there, it would be much cheaper for me

The UGQ poles are .340" Easton aluminum poles. You could buy pole from Dutch, but are those finished poles? The UGQ poles are 132" long and break down into 19" segments. The entire length is internally shock corded and they have ferrules on the ends to fit into the grommets on the tarp. They also have lengths of shock cord in the middle of the 132” poles to run out to the tarp ridgeline corners and clip on with a mitten hook. This keeps the poles upright instead of falling down inward under the tarp.

After looking, I assume this is what you meant.

    https://dutchwaregear.com/product/11ft-poles/

If so, the specs are pretty comparable and the price is good. 2 of them for $50 compared to $90 for the set from UGQ.

The UGQ set just comes with the shock cord with mitten hooks like I described, and it comes with a storage sack.

Yep. I have a Winterdream 13 with Dutchware poles. Works great, everything fits as it should.

I tied a length of shock cord to the near center of each pole to run to the tarp attachment points on each side of the split ridgeline. Each cord attaches to the ridgeline anchor point with a mitten hook type thingie. As cmc4free noted, that keeps the poles from falling towards the center.

I looooove the internal pole mod. I'm typically on my motorcycle, so the additional weight doesn't bother me one bit.

Ahhh, there was a time in my life when I had a bushy enough beard that it looked like I had a small rodent attached to my face. So say my mean, bullying brothers!

Yes, I use the dutchware poles with my UGQ winterdream 13 for the end mods. Along with the little plastic pieces you need to complete the mod - where the poles attach to the tarp.

LOL!!! Just looked back at this, and am so excited to get my tarp up! Got the tarp, got the poles, but it's been raining ALL week, and we were away for a long weekend, which followed ANOTHER rainy week. Maybe I should look at buying a BOAT with some big 'ole poles, so I can FLOAT my hammock setup around!!

Raining all week sounds like the perfect set of conditions to test a new tarp.
