A day camping in the rain is better than a good day at work,

Good to meet you arathelion and see you again PG at Yates over the weekend. We'll try to meet up again. How did the hike to Dutchman Creek work out? I might give that a try with the kids for an overnighter sometime.

We took spur trail from Yates to a Tbone.
And turned left onto Uwharrie trail
Went to next Tbone and turned right onto Dutchman’s Creek trail. About a mile down there was a campsite by the creek. Good for 2 or three hammocks or a tent. By the creek is against the rules
Also a different weekend, we took spur trail from Yates to first Tbone and turned right on Uwharrie trail. About a mile north on Uwharrie is a good campsite just before it crosses gravel road. I believe it’s same road that goes by Yates. I don’t remember a water source at this campsite
I want to take time to learn these trails and also download all the trails on map apps phone
I wish I’d been on time last week—got lots to learn
John Rock hang is coming up next month (July). Great hang and a good size group to hang with. Short hike to the hang site (Enchanted Forest). Now I am a big guy & out of shape, but that hike is doable for me. Cat-hole bathrooms (or hike back to the parking lot), nice easily accessible stream for water filtering. Planned dinner for Saturday night only - all other food is what you carry in.

Me too...sometime this summer. Gotta work on minimizing weight with gear I got
Might get all new gear just for backpacking-maybe next year
Sometime this summer or early fall, it would be fun to figure eight loop Uwharrie Trail-Dutchman’s Creek
Before going I gotta download trails on hiking apps
Slowly I’m learning from Old Pros (younger than me) about backpacking—whole different world from car camping. We might even get one or two more hammockers hiking too
Im down for it im buying a new pack in the near future and making a few other small changes on items
I was tossing up the idea to take my time one day and thru hike the uwarrie after its not kill you temps
