    New hammock for a daughter

My first DIY hammock for my daughter.

    AVatorL Pinky

    Dimensions: 7' x 59"
Fabric: 1.6 oz HyperD diamond ripstop nylon
    Color: Hot Pink
    Thread: Gutermann MARA 70
    Needle: 9/14

My first time sewing ever. The result is not perfect, but not really bad.

    Just 7' because
    1) she is 5 years old but she is shorter than most girls of her age. 3'4" maybe already a bit more. 59" width hammock is actually wide enough for comfortable lay at up to 90 degree angle
    2) we will hang it under her bed, there will be no space for a longer hammock
    3) I'm ok to replace the hammock in 5 years or so
    4) we rather will use full size hammocks to sleep outdoor

I also need to make 2 small hammocks for her stuffed animals (one for girls (same Hot Pint color) and one for boys (Green)

They were a little confusing at first, but now that I've done it a couple times, they are super easy( Hammock Straps) to use and adjust. They go around trees, poles, and larger columns. They fit back in the bag they came in even if I just wad them up!

Hot pink indeed, the perfect color. And look at the excitement in those eyes!

My 5 year old is currently TERRIFIED of hammocks!! Can't get him anywhere near one. (he's also terrified of bugs, and loud public toilets )

    What's your secret?

Supper Cool!!!! She looks every excited about her hammock. When she out grows the 7' hammock you can use it for a gear hammock or many other options. Thank you for sharing.

Every child is a secret. We can't predict what they will like and what they will be terrified of. She is playing a role of a spider in her games often but sometimes she is terrified of a picture of a spider or bug.

We tried hanging together in one wide hammock before the winter. It was really exciting for both of us. Not 100% comfortable to sleep in one hammock. But the only thing she really didn't like about sleeping in a hammock was a sleeping bag. She moves a lot during a night and need more space. I will get my HG quilts soon and we will try double hammocks setup and quilts.
