Alabama is home to one of my favorite destinations: the Sipsey Wilderness. It's certainly possible to moto-camp there, walking a few hundred yards, or a mile or ten miles to a camp. The best views are usually the longest walks, but that's not necessarily the case. It's a terrific spot to hammock camp.

Welcome! There are quite a few of us in Alabama and we like to gather in the Sipsey Wilderness every fall and spring to hike, check out hammocks, and visit...and eat. Keep an eye out for the planning posts. There are places relatively close by to hang. The Oak Mt State Park campground has trees on a few sites, the Pinhoti Trail is very hammock friendly, and, of course, Sipsey.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions or share what you know. Take pictures when you go and post in trip reports- everybody likes to hear about that.
