The Butt Bake is the last weekend in July - 25-28. It is car camping accessible but totally primitive location on Lake Conroe. The conversation about it is among the 12-18 folks planning on going, on FB.

Here's the link for the sign up sheet.

If you are not on FB, I'd suggest an email to Scuba for details. He's hosting and is the listing on the top of the sheet.

The planning thread for the November hang I mentioned previously will go up after the Butt Bake.

October-November is when things start to get civilized again. I've run into quite a few hammock campers at the Texas Renaissance Festival up in Magnolia TX campgrounds around then. Happy people.

Best of luck to you! (Sinking a few 4x4s into the beach at South Padre Island is also a lovely way to hang.)

I too am looking forward to October and November and cooler weather.

We do have a growing number of our Texas Hanging community that spends every weekend at Ren Fest so you'll run into more this year too.

Our annual fall hang is in November and the month preceding that, October, I usually go to the same place for a Recon Hang. The November Hang is listed in the link in my signature.

I know this is an old post which has not had updated in some time, but was curious if there was a hang planned for this year (2021)? I'm not on FB, so this would be the only place I would see anything about the hangs.

We are gathering again this November. The Annual Texas Fall Hang is always the weekend of the 2nd Saturday in November at Fairfield Lake State Park. This year that falls on November 11-14.

All of the planning and information is being coordinated through the Texas Hammock Hanger Facebook Group so that's the place to go for details. I understand that you're not on there, it's just simpler to keep conversations, details, and Q&A on one spot.

Sites can be reserved through the state park reservation system.

Thanks! I'll have to check with my wife and see if the kids and I can make it out for a night!

I'm booked for Sat night in site 11 in Springfield. Will everyone be in the Cooks Ferry area?

We made it out somewhat late Sat - got there after dark, so my youngest son and I got set up and just hung out at the campsite.
Site 11 didn't have any trees suitable for hanging, but we brought our stands along just in case.

We had fun - sorry we missed everyone. We found where I think everyone else was at, but it looks like everyone had headed home by 9/10am. There were only two hammocks I saw on Sunday.
    Maybe next year!
